It’s time to get started! A couple of the supplements have arrived in the mail. I’m a little nervous because, like I said before, I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to my health. However, the desire to feel less tired and have more energy is trumping the anxiety of leaving my comfort zone.
The first one I’m starting is Restoriix (from Ariix). According to the packaging, this supplement supports “Detoxification & Healthy pH”. Detoxification??? I thought detox was what drug addicts had to do. I have lots of addictions, but none are to illegal or illicit drugs.
My main addiction is coffee! I’m sure many of you can relate. Although, I’m not sure I’m actually addicted. I don’t feel the NEED for coffee, I just REALLY enjoy drinking it. Often! (OK, so maybe I’m a little addicted!)
I’m also a little unsure about “Healthy pH”. I know cancer cells thrive in a highly acidic environment, but just how do you measure your pH level? And what’s the right level? I bought some great diagnostic pH test strips from Amazon*. You can dip them in saliva or urine. Here’s the interesting part…when I measured my saliva, my pH was in the “optimal” zone. But, when I tested my urine, it was in the “very acidic” zone. While I’d love to just go with the saliva results, I’m guessing something isn’t quite right here. I’ll keep you posted!
So, here’s my problem with the Restoriix: it’s a green powder that you mix with water and drink first thing in the morning. Now, when I say green, it’s not pretty “margarita green” – that I could get behind.
Here’s what’s in it:
Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin
Activated Charcoal (Are you kidding me?!?!?)
Organic Ginger Root Powder
None of those things sounds the least bit appetizing. And, the color – Army green. YUCK! “Traditional Sarah” is having a hard time with this. Especially the charcoal!
The first time I mixed it up and drank it, it took me LONG time toget it all down. (I have a very hard time drinking anything that isn’t delicious. And, I can’t chug anything. Not even water.)
The next day, with some encouragement from my nutritional guru, Marlisa Hurt, Ph.d, (Founding HCB2 board member), I added some fresh squeezed orange and lemon juice. Much better! (She also suggestedsome Stevia, but the fresh juice helped just enough!)
While I’m not feeling any improvement yet (it’s only been 2 days), if it helps me feel any better, I’m willing to drink it! I do have to change up my morning routine a little. This has been a harder adjustment than I anticipated. After drinking the Restoriix, I can’t eat breakfast for an hour. I am a true creature of habit and it will take me a few days to adapt to a new routine.
[A wise soul just reminded me that, “Our habits are what usually birth maladaptive behaviors or ineffective choices…it’s a great thing to be aware of habits and change them to effective ones! Habits are so often thrown into conversation as an excuse, or thought of unbreakable behaviors, but it’s the ‘habit’ that keeps us sick, frustrated, angry or addicted…..Our day is 85% habit so it is AWESOME to look at our daily routines to modify them as we learn more about what is healthy for us.” Thanks Mindy!]
What I’m looking for now are easy, quick breakfast suggestions. I’m guessing cereal with fruit, my normal go to, is not the best selection. Maybe Marlisa and Mindy (Executive Director of HCB2) can help us out???
Still tired (but hopeful)…
Peace and Grace!
